Sage — Terms of Use

Sage is a personal reflection and focus assistant, built and operated by a single developer as a personal research project. By using Sage you agree to the following terms.

Nature of the service

Sage is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind, and without a service-level commitment. It is not a medical, therapeutic, or emergency service, and nothing in the app constitutes medical, psychological, or professional advice. If you are in crisis or need urgent help, contact local emergency services or a qualified professional.

Your account

Sage is currently limited to a single account holder. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app's settings; see the Privacy Policy for details on what is deleted.

Your content

You retain ownership of the thoughts, notes, ratings, and any other content you enter into Sage, and of the data Sage reads from accounts you connect. You grant Sage the limited right to process that content — including sending relevant text to the third-party processors described in the Privacy Policy — solely to provide the app's features to you.

Connected calendar accounts

Sage can read calendars from Google and Microsoft accounts that you connect yourself. Three things follow, and the second one is the one worth reading twice:

• Access is read-only. Sage never creates, edits, moves, or deletes anything in a connected calendar. Nothing the app does can change what your calendar says.
• You are responsible for having the right to connect the account. A calendar belonging to an employer or a client is usually governed by that organization's own rules, and connecting it may require its administrator's permission. Sage cannot know whether you have it, and does not ask.
• The provider's own terms continue to apply to your use of Google Calendar or Microsoft 365. Sage is a reader of those services, not a party to your agreement with them.

You can disconnect any account at any time from the connections page reached through the app's settings, which deletes its stored tokens and events; you can also revoke access from the provider's side. See the Privacy Policy for what is retained and for how long.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use Sage to store or transmit unlawful content, or to attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the service.

Availability and changes

Sage is an actively evolving personal project. Features, availability, and these terms may change at any time without prior notice. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, Sage, including loss of data.

Sage estimates how full a day is from the calendars you connect. Those estimates are a reading of the data available to it, not a promise about your day: a calendar that is not connected, not ticked, or not synced is invisible to them. Do not rely on Sage as the only record of a commitment.
